The Legend of

The Great Stackholio

Once upon a time, along majestic highway J22, there rode a young man destined for greatness, destined to make the serious sacrifice that would place him, and many brave riders to follow, in the eternal annals of history.

CJ Jackson was that man, his mount -- a BMW R100RS, his speed -- excessive for the dirt-strewn twisties he was riding, his heart -- full of the spirit of Kenny Roberts flat-track racing. Despite his years of riding, despite his skill, despite his deep concentration, even this seasoned rider was unable to forestall the inevitable. His back end sliding, his valve cover sheering, his chin smashing through his RS faring, this revolutionary man stacked his way into Eternal Rememberance.

Perhaps it was the force of gravity, perhaps it was the 200+ miles he had ridden that day, but this stalwart hero, the first Great Stackholio, slid cursing, countersteering, and compensating into the Future.

Several thousands of dollars in repairs later, the Great Stackholio passed his memorial medallion to another unfortunate and so was born a great tradition. Since that time, the Stackholio Pin has been travelling from hand to hand, those who wreck receiving the honor. Today, the Vampire who has most recent stack wears his pin with pride, remembering those who have stacked before. It is a moment of pride for those who earn the honor. This page is a monument to their heroism.

Now, each year as the anniversary of the 1st Great Stackholio ride approaches, the Vampires make their journey across the hot, dry, dusty central valley of California. Their destination: state highway J22. In this way we commemorate CJ's important contribution to our collective Karma. And get to ride a lot. And have fun. And get sore butts.
